THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2009 (6 TO 9 P.M.)
The New York City Queens Museum will be
previewing the exhibition formerly titled
“Berlin: Metamorphosis” NOW titled “Common
Ground”. This museum location was chosen by
Fitz Maurice because it was the original
building of the United Nations. The painting
entitled “The War of Human Rights” will also
be featured at the “Queens Museum”. This oil
painting was originally exhibited at the
United Nations World Conference in Vienna as
the symbol of Human Rights. Fitz Maurice
wishes to thank Assistant Parks Commissioner
Estelle Cooper, Mr. Bruce Bendell, and the
Mayor of the City of New York, Honorable
Mayor Bloomberg, under whose watch this
celebration is all made possible.
The German Parliament was the first to
exhibit the collection Berlin: Metamorphosis
in 1990, AS THE ARTISTIC RENDITION
OF THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL AND THE
REUNIFICATION OF GERMANY. Now
it’s being exhibited under the title “Common
Ground” with the new focus of “ALL WALLS
DOWN” around the world.
GODWIN-TERNBACH MUSEUM
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2009 (5:30 to
7:30P.M.) “Common Ground” exhibition
will then travel to GODWIN-TERNBACH MUSEUM
at Queens College, CUNY. Where the entire
thirty painting collection will be on
exhibition starting Monday, November 2, 2009
through Friday, December 18, 2009. Opening
reception taking place on Thursday, November

City University of New York’s
Queens College asked Fitz Maurice if they
could join in on the "Tolerance" and “All
the Walls Down" celebration and movement.
Queens College enrolls the most diverse
ethnic student body in the United States
(over 20,000 students 40% of which are from
other countries, and over 9500 active
alumni). Fitz Maurice, because of this
diversity felt this college would be the
appropriate venue to launch the "Tolerance"
movement of Art and Music.
