Fitz Maurice - Biography

Fitz Maurice
An artist with 21st Century vision. Classically trained in New York and Europe, with a hand on the future, creating only fine art and only originals. The artist’s goal is that the paintings give the viewers a spiritual lift and makes art an essential component of their lives.
 

2009 N.Y.C. Unisphere, Inc. Gala
 – Mayor Bloomberg honored internationally acclaimed artist Fitz Maurice with New York Unisphere Award for creating the Symbol of Tolerance, promoting "mutual respect" between nationalities worldwide.

2009 Queens Museum of Art
 – One-artist exhibition "Common Ground"

2002 Jackson Pollock-Lee Krasner New York Award
 – Artists world-wide apply; only exceptional artists win based on a series of paintings.

2002 Paris Triennale
 –
represented the U.S. in Grande Arche National Monument, Paris, show juried by members of the French Fine Arts Academy, Institute de France, Cultural National Department and Art Critics.

2001 Florence Biennale
 –
represented the U.S. in this International Exhibition juried by International Art Critics and Museum Directors.

1993 United Nations World Conference in Vienna
 –
Fitz Maurice’s painting was chosen as the symbol of Human Rights by the ISHR, exhibited during the World Conference, and Posters of the painting were displayed throughout Vienna.

1992 The German Parliament
 –
exhibited Fitz Maurice’s paintings as the artistic rendition of the Reunification of Germany.  The Parliament purchased a painting for their permanent collection.

1990 Kamchatka Museum, Russia
  –
Purchased a painting for their permanent collection.

Fitz Maurice has traveled extensively, studying independently at museums and studios in France, England, Holland, Ireland, Switzerland, Mexico, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Greece.
